I have a way with people.

Hi everyone. So happy you’ve taken the time to surf through my website. I am a trainer. There are few things in life I enjoy more than creating, developing, implementing, and conducting training. Whether the end goal is to prepare employees to expertly use new software or business processes; or to motivate and positively affect personal productivity through soft-skills enhancement, training is the key. The right trainer and training program is paramount to learning and success. I am the right trainer, and I can facilitate the program of your choice or develop one especially for you.

My mission is to teach and promote individual development in the areas of leadership and management, time management, customer service, and topics that increase the productivity and effectiveness of individuals and organizations. My philosophy of clarity, simplicity, purpose, and creativity makes my delivery and straightforward approach to training an excellent classroom experience every time. I combine solid knowledge, practical skills, and thought-provoking, creative methods to enable clients to increase their employees’ motivation and business skills.

BACKGROUND

I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. Graduated in 1974, from Western High School, an all-girls high school with a rich heritage of leadership, diversity, and civic pride. I joined the U.S. Air Force in 1978 and was trained to perform maintenance on ground landing systems. Then, a career change to manpower management where I was trained to develop and maintain Air Force organizational structure and standards. That’s where my interest in organization development began. We managed performance through analyzing, planning, designing, advising, and facilitating organizational and functional process improvement. We used integrated process teams, process mapping, work measurement, modern business practices, metric development for manpower requirements, performance measurement, and organizational design. Our team designed methods and tailored consultation to improve organizational performance. It was all about productivity.

I finished my twenty-year career by becoming an Air Force recruiter for my last four years of service. I should have opted for a more relaxing job, believe me. Air Force recruiters are selected. One can apply, but not all are chosen. Recruiting is a sales profession, and there are set goals that no one would ever call “quotas.” (Yeah, right.) The Air Force Recruiter School teaches you to sell. I learned to sell. I learned to close.

In 1998, I retired from my beloved Air Force career. I took a position as Executive Assistant to the Vice President and Editor of a Knight-Ridder newspaper in Columbus, GA. What a different world! I’d just come from twenty years of top-secret clearances and only a “Need-to-Know” basis of sharing information to the world of “We wanna know what, when, who, where, and why,” and we want to know it now! About sixty reporters, editors, and photographers were in the newsroom. I dubbed them “the Newsies.” I learned so much working with those professional guardians of the people’s knowledge.

There’s more, but we’ll talk later. Just know that my experiences and training have only been building blocks to prepare me for what I’m good at now…getting the best out of people who want to learn new skills, ideas, and processes for growth.

I have a “specific set of skills” (hat tip to Liam Neeson) to obtain buy-in with my learners, put them at ease, and pour in the knowledge. Since 1998, I’ve had the pleasure of assisting companies and organizations in preparing their staff for enhanced productivity in many areas.

I hope you and I get a chance to work on something fantastic together.
